He's a bit camera shy, but we tried to capture his great game...it's quite amazing! He is a very friendly boy, though a bit shy at first. Blaze is good with other dogs and great with people. He is very active since he's a young border collie and needs a very involved guardian to be with him. Blaze was fine in this new situation with all the new dogs - taking everything in stride.  That night, he slept at the foot of my bed like he's always been there!  </div> <div> <TABLE BORDER="0" CELLPADDING="2" CELLSPACING="1" WIDTH="766" BORDERCOLORLIGHT="#C0C0C0" BORDERCOLORDARK="#808080" FRAME="BOX" RULES="ALL" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0" > <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP HEIGHT= 548 ><NOBR><div> <IMG SRC="1d11d690.jpg" border=0 width="285" height="361" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></div> <bR> <div> <IMG SRC="1d64ca20.jpg" border=0 width="332" height="162" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></div> </NOBR></tD> <tD VALIGN=TOP WIDTH="452"><div> Next day, on to Abbie's training center, where Spur got to do some agility.  We tested Blaze's reaction when setting up (dragging and banging the heavy equipment) - no fear, just curiosity.  Even when dogs were banging the see-saw he wanted nothing more than to get in there!  He took to the clicker instantly and learned to trot through a ladder on the ground and he surfed the tippy planks wildly - all within about 10 minutes!  Needless to say, that afternoon, back I went to Glen Highland Farm to complete the adoption process.</div> <bR> <div> Blaze fits in well with our pack and is quiet in the house. He has no interest in herding sheep, which is interesting, as he does display lots of "herding" behaviors.  I can walk him through our flock and all he wants to do it look for toys!</div> <bR> <div> <B>Left: Adoption Day!</B></div> <bR> <div> <IMG SRC="1d3c9bc0.jpg" border=0 width="201" height="188" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0">     <IMG SRC="1d5e3bb0.jpg" border=0 width="227" height="187" ALIGN="BOTTOM" HSPACE="0" VSPACE="0"></div> <bR> <div> <B>These 3 puppy photos of Blaze were sent by Blaze's previous family, who are very happy to know that they did make the right decision in seeing that he was placed in a new, more active home, although they miss him terribly.</B></div> </tD> </tR> </TABLE></div> <div> <B>Blaze's favorite doggy friends:</B> <B>Pablo</B> (a Sheltie), 'cause he's LOUD! <B>Clark & Spring</B> (BCs)- they know the CORRECT rules of the stick game! <B>Kap</B> (BC)- his racing buddy. <B>Jus </B>(a BC) he knows the Drive By Shooting Game, which is sooooo much fun!</div> </tD> </tR> <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP HEIGHT= 3895 WIDTH="796"><div> Blaze's Competitive Career</div> <div> Updated on 08-18-08</div> <bR> <div> Blaze began agility training at age the minute he came home with me!  1.5 years later we ran in our first fun match.  The rest is history!</div> <div> <B>2008 Season: </B><I>Note: This year, I am maniacally trying to prepare Tap and Pat for the World Trial so am concentrating more on herding this season.  Blaze will not trial too much, but we are eagerly preparing for AAC Naitonals in August!</I><B> </B></div> <div> <B>May:</B>  Blaze earns a 1st place and a Q in Masters Standard at the Guides Canins trial.  </div> <div> <B>June</B>: Blaze competes at CATS/NOMAD and <B>earns his last SuperQ in Snooker for his ADCH!!!</B>  He also places in Steeplechase, Q's and places in a bunch of other classes and his DAM team "Chuck Norris" (Perk, Jus and Blaze) place 5th and Q.  Blaze had no E's all weekend!  Good Boy!  He also qualifies for the AAC Nationals by earning 460-ish (and change) points at the Regional - despite being sick on Doxy (for Lyme) and thunderstorms!</div> <div> <B>August:</B>  Blaze travels to Sussex, New Brunswick to compete in the AAC National Championships where he finishes with 472.02 points for a respectful 22nd place overall out of 63 dogs in the 26" division - running with multiple contusions and cuts from sky diving off the cliffs of the Fundy Trail into the river the day before the competition started!!!! We redeemed ourselves in the 3 dog relay, however, although Blaze took down a couple of bars..He was running after Bert, who gets him very excited! Blaze also placed 4th in a very tough Grand Prix, even though he was tired and sick of the 6.3" AFrame!  </div> <div> <B>May:</B> Earns a 1st place and Q in Masters Gamblers with a whopping 100 points at the Guide Canins Trail in St. Lazare.  He also earns  Q's in Snooker (with a first place finish) and Snooker (2nd place) and ran 2/3 team relay's clean and fast.  Blaze is also enjoying the new "broken" AFrame contact behavior - we are going to retrain a running Aframe so first step is to "undo" his previously learned behavior.  He was called for about 50% of his contacts on the Aframe, but once he gets the striding, he will (hopefully) have a 1.25 second Aframe - a BIG improvement over our often 3 and 4 second performances!</div> <div> <B>June:</B> Qualifies for the AAC Nationals at the Quebec Regional's.</div> <div> <B>August:</B> Competes at the AAC Nationals in Toronto and earns a<B> 3rd place finish in the first round of Standard (85 dogs), and is a Steeplechase Finalist</B>.  And, with a clean run (placing 7th) in Thursday's Steeplechase qualifying rounds and another (placing 6th) in the semi finals on Saturday, <B>Blaze made the top 25% of dogs making cut for the Steeplechase FINALS!</B> Alas, by day 4 Blaze's brain was fried and the loudspeakers blaring music and running commentaries directly into the ring during the Final round made him so worried and I chose to leave the ring after a very un-Blaze like struggle at the weaves. </div> <div> <B>September:</B> Earns his Master Steeplechase Dog of Canada (MSCDC) title at the Guides Canins Trial. At the Riverside K9 trial, Blaze earns his USDAA Gambler Master (GM) title and Q's and places 3rd in Steeplechase round 1 and 4th in Masters Standard with a Q.</div> <div> <B>November:</B>Earns his 10th Masters Standard Q for his Standard Agility Champion Title (SACH) at the Y trial in Chatham, NY.  Also earned a Q in Jumpers.  </div> <div> <B>December</B>: Earns his Jumper Master (JM) at the All Dogs USDAA trial and earns his first GP Q for 2008.
